Perfume lovers everywhere have been waiting. Whether you're someone who wears fragrances of all profiles (heavy and light) throughout the year no matter the weather or occasion-or whether you're someone who matches notes and type to seasons and events- seasoned perfume aficionados understand that weather can affect your wearing experience and even which notes the nose may detect on the skin.
Personally, I enjoy wearing lighter notes in Summer and Spring and tend to gravitate toward the more heavy notes in Fall and Winter. That's primarily due my desire to avoid creating a cloying experience. For instance, if I'm going to be in air conditioning throughout the day, I have no problem wearing those heavier notes outside of their typically assigned season.
Most often, I stray from my seasonal pattern because I'm craving certain scents or notes, but occasionally because I want to be transported to a different time and place. For instance, when I lived in the Midwest, I regularly struggled with season affective disorder, and spraying on a tropical fruit based Summery fragrance helped me dream about being on a tropical vacation, and that could often lift my mood.
Now that I live in a more temperate climate, with very few cold days, I have a feeling I'll be taking full advantage of my perfumes with deep and resinous notes while I have the opportunity. My new home is not configured with good air conditioning, just a couple of not very effective wall units, and as a result, I greatly miss wearing a large portion of my collection.
Below is Ameer al Oudh Intense, what some might call a sophisticated gourmand, though I think its gourmand element is subtle. In my opinion, that's where its sophistication lies. This is not a tooth achingly sweet profile, but a subtle hint of smoky marshmallow makes it appealing to gourmand lovers and makes it approachable to men and women alike.
Notes are : Top are Woodsy Notes and Agarwood (Oud); middle notes are Sugar and Vanilla; base notes are Agarwood (Oud), Sandalwood and Herbal
